Blog post #3 - Notes Richard Flores ENG 121

Notes

Between the YMCA and weight room for student-athletes at Waldorf facilities. YMCA has an open free range to all gym goers who sometimes have nothing planned for the next hour or hour and a half of them being there the go through a helpless workout or use all the workout machines. A lot of the time this is seen by “Ego lifters'' who I've personally encountered at the forest city local YMCA and even back home in Texas but this person does as much weight that's on a machine or stacks plates on a bar and does mediocre reps to fuel his ego for usually “his” ego.

As in a professional collegiate viewpoint from a strength coach for a college program frown apon these kinda things because you will see no progress from it and it's a great way to get very hurt.

Environment differences

YMCA- Everyone to them selfs and doing their own thing. And usually, you are seeing people come and go as they please and work out at their own pace. It's quiet with no music as people have earbuds or headphones on as they are working out. A lot of the time people bring their own gym straps, belts, etc.

The weight room at Waldorf- People are wearing the right colors scheme. Everyone is in the weight room as a team whether it's volleyball, track, football, baseball, or whatever sport you play you are working out with a teammate. Music is blasting from speakers so everyone is listing to the same thing as everyone else.
