Blog post #1 Relationship with writing - Richard Flores ENG 120

       For as long as I can remember writing has been the subject that I struggle the most with. Whether it’s starting an essay or just getting stuck in a block that I can’t get past. In general, mostly my lack of reading books growing up and my despise of reading ultimately lead to me to have a low skill in writing. As now I see how critical it is in college to know and be good at writing as in almost every class we have essays or papers to do. 

    While my experiences with writing have never been good as laziness and procrastination have always eaten at my soul when papers were due. And just not having a motivating spirit towards writing always lead to my downfall. But as of my most recent experiences with writing as my senior year was nothing but 5 paragraph essays and research papers. As I always dreaded the next week because of the next paper that was due at that moment I hated my teacher for putting every paper out for an assignment but in hindsight, it was the best thing for me coming into college. Leaving high school feeling comfortable writing essays was ultimately the best thing for my future ahead. But as that year was a year of remote learning and zoom classes I think if it was just a regular year maybe Id be more ahead in my skill of writing essays but who knows.

   One of the writing types I despise is narrative just because I feel one of my weaknesses is storytelling and keeping the reader interested. Just coming up with things to put down in my paper is a struggle as my creative side isn’t a strong point of mine. Another type of writing I’m not too excited about is descriptive just because again involves creativity and sometimes my mind goes blank when thinking of creative things to describe a word or thing. But one type of writing I do enjoy is persuasive. And that’s just cause it allows me to put my opinion towards certain ideas allowing the reader to agree with my point of view by using facts about the topic. And it just comes to me easier.

While searching for blogs to use I came across this one blog called Tom’s Burger Blog, a simple blogger who visits 2 or more burger joints a month and writes up a review on their best burger on the menu. All burger joints are based in California and some surrounding areas on the west coast. His reviews start with usually two to three paragraphs stating how he heard or found the joint. The style of writing is mostly laid back type as well as informative as he adds good information. Also states the facts or history of the burger or the restaurant he is visiting. And some of the burger joints he visits he describes the wait time and how many people were already waiting in the restaurant's line as some are only pop-up sells or really popular in the area. Blog post #2 Richard Flores The concepts of education ENG 121

     With Freire's argument I agree with his education views as he sees education as a practice of freedom and should be welcomed by all. The ‘banking' concept of education can be useful though only in the right teachings. As I feel if the information is too complicated and tactical where it's best for the students to better understand the information my just sitting and taking it all in would be best for them to actually get the information being given to them then that's where I would see that is okay to use the banking concepts of education. But like for examples where there is places where they have strict hold on education and everything surrounding it is so important to the cultures there is no one to tell them it is bad to use the banking concept of education  causes to their culture it is the higher up know everything regardless if they do or not they are healed themselves up to that standards so everyone under them sees that and just auto mactilly ...

Blog post #4- Research Project ENG 121 Richard Flores

   The few things that pop up in my head when thinking of a research project and what my topic on the paper will be are two main ideas. My interest and what I already know but want to learn more about. And I also think of what idea will be best for me and for the outcome of my paper.  In general, I could talk about football and everything that involves the sport and what makes the sport as great as it is. But then I start to think of topics I’m interested in like stuff back home like breakfast tacos or H-E-B and everything in between. But with football, I think it is gonna be my best bet as I have options and can get others’ opinions on a topic of football I choose to work on for the project. As with football can talk about the evolution of football from rules, technology, the field, and even how the game can be played to even the change of physical features of the  players.
